Age 29 when I first heard of the disorder/syndrome from my therapist and diagnosed the same year, 2010 AD.

I was diagnosed when I was 15.

I'm terrible with dates, but I think I was 22. (yeah, that's how bad it is)

Edit: just saw the date I joined, which confirms what I said as I joined shortly after being diagnosed. Hooray, I guessed correctly!

I was diagnosed with autism by an autistic friend just before the DSM included asperger's as a diagnosis in my 40s. I was officially diagnosed at 56.

I first heard/came-ito-contact-with autistic people online in about 1993-1994, when I was 27. Don't know if I ever specifically self-dx'ed at certain time; I just stopped fretting about it after about 10 years. I'm voting age 27 in the poll.

I first heard about AS/HFA in my mid-50's when I met an Aspie in a spiritual-fellowship setting, but my own deal finally "clicked" for me a year ago, at 59.

Self-diagnosed in June of this year - a couple months shy of 50. I'm considering a formal evaluation, but not sure if it's worth it at this point in my life.

Started considering that I had it only last year, so 30. Still not sure but, the more I come here, the more things I see I have in common with y'all.

I must say I'm surprised so far at the +40 crowd. Not to be exclusionary to the younger ones here, I have a question for that group. I'm finding I'm struggling quite a bit with the implications of finding out this late in life. I'm curious how those discovering this in themselves late in life have been dealing with it. I'm particularly feeling troubled by the knowledge of how many years have been lost to this un-named shadow that has been dogging my footsteps.
