It is, isn't it?

I have all of their music. Do you have a favourite album of those you've heard?

Well the only CD i have is In Time Best Of REM 1988-2003. I really like that CD a lot!
I really wish i had there first greastest hits cd though i like their old stuff too.
My favorite song from them of all time is The Great Beyond!
I've been also playing Bang and Blame, Crush With Eyeliner, Texarkana and Near Wild Heaven lately.
But the songs change freuquently once i find new songs to play from them!
What is your favorite album?

I've got Automatic for the People somewhere. It's pretty good, but I never had much desire to really get into R.E.M.

r.e.m is awesome. i only became a real fan of their music in the last few years. they are a rarity in today's popular music.

I think my favourite is 'Murmur' - their very first one. It's very evocative of a relatively simple time for me.

'Near Wild Heaven' is gorgeous, though - and I don't think they have any album I don't love.

I used to be a much bigger fan of these guys than I am now, but Murmur is still great. I like much of Green. Automatic for the People is very good.

I looooveee R.E.M.! !! ! Automatic For The People is my favourite album by them. My favourite songs by them are The One I Love, Fall On Me, Drive and Find The River. I have always liked R.E.M. They are distinct and different from many bands out there and this is especially true in their 80's releases. I'm glad somebody else on WP likes them too.

Kaitlyn it seems like you've basically gotten into them 'cuz of me!! :D I know that the music definitely has something to do with it as well (I would think), but still that's pretty darn cool!! Seems like you've gotten into a couple bands because of me (Talking Heads would be another). Sometimes I'll check out things you recommend - "The Ghost Inside" by Broken Bells has really grown on me since July, and I JUST checked out Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros' "40 Day Dream" last week - you were right that IS a cool song!! :) My fave on the whole CD (for Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros) is "Come In Please", which Sirius XM Spectrum spun for awhile back in November/December of last year, but then they stopped spinning it :(

Also I HIGHLY recommend "Eponymous" for "best of" collections for R.E.M. - I first heard "Gardening At Night" that way, it's an awesome song!! :D They don't have "Catapult" or "Pretty Persuasion" on there though :( Oh well everything else they did that was really good pre-fame is on there!!

I have a gay friend who is a huge R.E.M. fan, who has a man crush on Michael Stypes.

I'm currently trying to build up my REM collection and get all their albums. I grew up with REM constantly being played in the house as both my parents were massive fans - I stopped listening to them when I hit my teens and only just remembered what a great band they were in the past couple of years. I love Murmur and Automatic For The People.
