I made this poll on another website some years ago. It is a test to see if TS Eliot knew what he was talking about.

As the poll and the topic title suggest, vote for the cruelest month. Come in here and give reasons if you wish to.

My vote goes to October because I'm at uni, and all my assessment is due around October, so I get very overwhelmed.

I voted "August" because it's the "back-to-school" month for my area, plus it's the month in which the summer heat is at its peak.

Smarch? What is Smarch?

I hate December; Christmas hassles, annoying family members 24/7. Sure I get time off work but I have to spend it around them.

October is my favorite month, followed by November. I have never liked April.

Curse you, April! And March, you're not much better.

I seem to have all of my emotional troubles in October. I'm scrambling to save up money for my home insurance. I took out my frusterations on my Grade 7 music teacher and I got in a lot of trouble for it, on the 27th of October. The Cockney whom I should have just let phone my parents to straighten them out. That teacher.

The days get shorter and the nights get longer.

There's also the fact that Halloween is approaching and the punks in my area use this time as an excuse to throw pipe bombs and fireworks into the apartments of the seniours and special needs people in my area.

I also get anxious and depressed this time of the year, and my incontinence issues flare up, where as they calm down in the spring.

My birthday also rolls around, and I know I'm not getting any younger.

I personally dislike November. It usually is the month when the winter rains set in where I live. (I'm not talking about some kind of monsoon here, just lots of ordinary rain.)

The rain and the grey sky and the general coldth and lack of daylight are bad and make me go depressive every single year, but the worst part is knowing that the weather will remain that bad until at least February, but quite likely even until March is over. :(

I do not know about cruel... but I dislike July. It is simply too hot in the middle of summer here and I do not handle heat well. It is also the month of independence day here, and a lot of people feel compelled to set off loud fireworks with great frequency. It drives me nuts.

April is the cruellest month, obviously ... no matter what that overly jolly Chaucer implied.

All of winter. I guess if I had to pick just one month, it would be January, but really, I hate all months from late October to early March.

I get some weird & unpleasant mood thing in April, and am usually really depressed in December.

So it's a toss up between those two.

Or Smarch. Nobody likes Smarch.

My favourites are March and April. It is either Spring, or Autumn, and I love both of these.

However I find the end of the year to often be particularly dark. November is usually a gloomy month but I have found that the September/October period have been pretty difficult , I am hoping that November will be ok.

I do love December though, as I love Christmas! And New Years!

December's the worst. All I do is dread Christmas visits and family drama. A few years ago I had a terrible Christmas at my dad's and as we were leaving I decided I wasn't ever going back. That was going to be the last time they pulled that s**t. Now, because for most of my life Christmas was nearly ulcer inducing, I associate all the Christmas stuff with misery.

I still suspect Santa might be real, though.
