Psychological trauma?

reading something not long ago at all and these questions have been percolating in the back of my mind.

if as its recently been suggested, Aspies and auties are born extraordinarily sensitive to stimuli to (probably mis)quote) "you'd want to curl up to if a lullaby sounded like death metal on acid with the volume past ten"

Its lead me to wonder, how much of our "obliviousness"/"insensitivity" is due to accidental unintended trauma?

would we be 'less' oblivious, more able to cope with the stimulation with early recognition of our needs?
would an Aspie child known to be so from conception and given an adapted environment demonstrate the same traits at landmark development ages?

I wonder what the effects would be on an NT child if they we're exposed to enchanced stimulation of equivalent 'severity', would such a child develop autistic traits?

I know a few people with autism who had a very tough childhood who hardened up to that point, aren't really empathic/sympathic people because of that.
