I'm Rachel Lugia girl I like pokemon, Jurassic park, the weather and biology and psychology and the environment in general. I am a Christian but I'm more the delight than rules type. I like science and people_ I am not wonderful on maths and computers but can get along. I like photography and art and meeting new people but I don't always get on with them. cats and snuggling wow me up, i can tolerate noise to a certain extent because I have a hearing difficulty but I hate making personal decisions, razor noise, drills and wool and nylon clothes.

Hello :)

I'm interested - you say you have hearing difficulty. What exactly is it that's wrong? (My apologies if it's too personal a question.)

The audiologist said I had some nerve deafness and some bone deficiency in my right ear. It started affecting me at the age of five after having measles, croup and whooping cough in the same year. i cannot always hear what people are saying around me and it took me ages to learn to talk in more than a very quiet voice, conversation bei9ng particularly difficult. I was diagnosed at 30 with the help of my psychologist when i was depressed after getting a hearing test free at Swiss hearing Aids. They said I had medium hearing difficulties 47 then but now they say it's mild and my balance has got worse so it's middle ear hard of hearing ness. I have learned lip-reading and BSL stage i but cannot get on to stage 2 as I cannot remember the signs well enough and the examiners all seem to be from another pasrt of the country with different signs . I tried for 10 years to learn it and gave up when my hard of hearing boyfrind died and it hurt too much to go back to deafclub. At the moment I have a deaf-aid but njo batteries and am too shy to ask for them but you may be able to buy them somewhere.

BSL - where are you from then, may I ask?

And also, nerve deafness - do they mean literal nerve deafness, or do they mean some of the cells in your cochlea don't work?

Sorry, please tell me if I'm being too nosy  I'm just really interested.
