What are the differences? (By other forums I mean ones like Aspies for Freedom etc.) I am curious because I'm thinking about joining other forums. Thanks.

They're not as active. I don't go to them as much like I do here. I'll lurk at those other ones just to see what has been posted and sometimes I will make a post if I feel like it and have something to contribute. Same as making a new thread.

Wrongplanet is the 'Google' of Aspergers/autism forums.

Agreed! We are 'it' 8)

I fairly recently joined an online Aspie forum (UK) - very nice. But, with all respect to that forum, Wrong Planet rocks. I've checked-out a few other AS online forums/group and there's no comparison.

In all fairness, I know that for some, other forums are ideal. For instance, if you want 'lighter' topics or something more specific (i.e., for school issues, medication, etc). To each his own and there's nothing wrong, at all, with those forums.

But, from my perspective, I do not want a support group or advice (gag!) from neurotypicals who know-it-all (they don't). The Wrong Planet is just fun. We have tons of topics and each day is new. Plus the variety of individuals that you cannot get elsewhere. I've learned far more on the Wrong Planet than any other online site, book, etc. about ASD. From all of you! I really mean that, with all sincerity. Some of my best friends are Wrong Planet Aspies.

Now...(for fun). The legal disclaimer: The Lab Pet is not affiliated nor gains royalities from the Wrong Planet or sponsors. So there. The Lab Pet is a Freelance Aspie.

If you like, there may be AS forums that are regional to you (i.e., there's AS in the UK, etc). But the Wrong Planet is all-encompassing and international (which I like). Might be a good idea if any given forum is written by, and for, Aspies instead of a forum about AS.

An idea: Many of us on the WP choose a favourite topic/forum. For instance, there are those who hang-out nearly exclusively on the science/math/tech forum, where you'll find those that share your specific interests. Or music/art/literature. Or gaming/role playing. The parent forum is quite specialised, for example, with their own group. Same with women's discussion. Pick one you like; a mini-forum.

From what you say, WP sounds like a good place to stay - it would be nice to meet different people. I'll probably gravitate to the art forum at some point though. Thanks!

I'm a very loyal member of WrongPlanet. I've tried other forums, but the original is the greatest.

I've looked at intensitysquared (did not post/join) and recognized a few WP members - might be OK. Still, WP is the original! Personally, zomg is dang scary 8O On WP, many parents/educators, etc. post and even recommend WP!

Plus, WP has the coolest Aspies 8)

One of the inherent issues with Asperger's and Autism of all parts of the Spectrum, is the desire not to make changes... I was referred here by a fellow member who is also a member at another forum for one of my special interests (not an Autism/AS forum). Since I found WP first, and I like the people and the attitude here, why look elsewhere? I'm not going anyplace unless for some reason, WP doesn't keep on track, or gets run down with spam ads, etc. And I say let's not let that happen!
