I posted a thread on the things we lost yesterday but CockneyRebel's one post in it inspired me to post a thread on money and other things we found. Did you ever find anythinn that seemed to be lost by someone? Did you find the owner?

I once found 10 zlotys on a street (8 years ago when I was doing my best to get some money to be able to afford such a jewellery set as one of the teachers from my school had - a pair of green amber earrings and a pendant; quite an expensive one so this unexpected shot of cash was a smile of fortune to me). I also happened to find coins of little value.

I've found 2000 Japanese Yen, cleaning parking lots, a week ago.

Hey Asp Z, I thought you would have handed in anything that you found.

If you're stupid enough to lose it and I'm lucky enough to find it, it's mine :P

If I dropped my benefits, would you keep it or find me to give it back?

Once I thought I found a gold ring when I was on a trip but when I took a closer look, it turned out it was just a beetle with a golden-green shell :x

Once I found a ring indeed but it wasn't silver. Anyway, it was way too big and damaged at one place.

Then, basically, you've kinda stolen that money off me. There is a difference to finding £1 and my £100+ in benefits on the street.

Your fault for being stupid enough to drop £100. Really, though, all I'm doing is picking my own money up if you got it from the tax payer in the first place.

But, please, don't derail this thread to troll me.

I think you'd find that neither of us are trolls. We are just two dimwits stating our opinions.

A couple years ago there was a coat in my ditch that had a lighter, open pack of cigarettes, a knife, some money(think about $70 something ish) & a bag of white power stuff(think it was coke) in it. I kept the money & the knife but tossed the rest in the trash. I traded the knife to a friend for a butterfly knife that he thought sprang open but didn't

If I find something, I'll attempt to return it to its rightful owner. Not to do so is usually stealing; things you possess do not magically cease to be your property if you mislay them* (or are otherwise accidentally deprived of them - apart from being generally Just Plain Wrong, Asp-Z is making the mistake of assuming that loss of an item is in all cases the direct fault of the owner, which is absurd.) There is, of course, a large grey area, and as time goes by it usually becomes less morally wrong to appropriate something lost.

Anyhoo, can't think of any particular finds. I get a lot of bits and bobs handed to me at work, I do my best to reunite them with their owners.

*heck, things don't necessarily cease being your property even if you deliberately abandon them - sweet wrappers, chewing gum and barrels of toxic waste, for instance.
