Thank you for contributing a video.

Sounds like an interesting theory, but I don't think autism is a counter-culture because that means there is full knowledge of the culture and a rejection (of the majority) of it.

A lessened ability to conform to social demands is more the issue here.
Conforming isn't a disease persé, conforming is adapting to someone or something and if this isn't done by anybody at some level everyone would hold it's ground. I think over-conforming might be the case, accepting (almost) everything and rejecting (almost) nothing. A little give and take makes the world go round .

Personally I am more a person of social camouflage since it works better to reach my goals in life, everybody has their own coping strategy/tactics. There is more then one type of person, not just under people with a diagnosis with autism.

Neurotypical is actually is someone who hasn't got a autism (link), besides that it has more use of a foul word then a neutral meaning.

Little advice: Talking in general about autism while you actually talking about yourself isn't pulling crowds. If you want to make general statements about autism get more knowledge and experience with other autists (on- and offline), if you are venting your own opinion I suggest you do that in the 'I think/feel/observed' form.

Cheerfully,
Wallourdes

" lessened ability to conform to social demands is more the issue here. "

This is what I'm talking about. I am myself, and I am not going to try to make someone happy. If they aren't happy because of my opinion, I don't want to be their friend anyway. Opinions are just that - Opinions. Friends need to have a common ground anyway.. having aspergers helps you find who you really click with.

Asperger's is a gift. I don't think there is anything wrong with being who you are. You should not have to cover up who you are to appease people. And if you do try, you are conforming to what society expects of you. Whenever I do this - I get a numb feeling.

idk about you, but I'd rather have sorrow than feel nothing at all..

Also, I did state "I think" multiple times. This video was not intended to "pull crowds". It's my first youtube video and I actually am not a very gifted public speaker. It was my first take.. just me expressing my feelings about having aspergers and how I've always felt about my life and conformity..

By social camouflage I am giving the idea that I am conforming while I am far from doing that. Like I said everyone has their own coping strategy, this is mine - Working from the inside out or the outside in, everyone has their way of dealing in daily life.
I can sometimes be more myself, but usually can't because of the lack of acceptation of being different and thus not being able to get what I need.

You are giving your opinion and I am giving mine, no harm meant
