More inane stupidity from the GOP. My guess is that more of these "money-making privatisations" will be even more expensive. Privatising government functions is abdicating power to unelected tyrants. That prisons that administer justice are run by private corporations is a major strike against the government's legitimacy...

He was wrong. Dictatorships may be simple (or simple minded) but they are not efficient.

Consider the late Soviet Union or the even later Third Reich.

I still like the idea of ceding Texas to China, if China would be willing to write off our debt. If Texas isn't enough, we could give them Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missippi and Louisiana, too. That way, we could cut taxes even further, and Chinese imports would be even cheaper (since they would only have to be trucked across the country).
