I hope this show is canceled quickly. It's a new cartoon comedy currently on Fox Sundays at 8:30. Bob's Burgers has a character on there who's autistic, and with watching for only the first five minutes, they insulted her at least 10 times with descriptors like ret*d, 'bad' autistic, and slow. And the show is horribly unfunny. I'm pretty confident this show won't last more than a couple episodes, but if it does survive we may need to protest.

So why protest? If the show is going to get canceled anyway, why waste your energy? And if it stays on for a couple seasons, who are we to tell people they can't watch a show they like? Ignore the problem, and it goes away...because it's not a problem. People are going to believe what they are going to believe, and there is nothing anyone can do about that. As much as I would like to change people's opinions on certain things, I can't.

Well at least it shows that not all autistic people are like rainman.

I watched it and the father Bob explicitly said to the daughter Tina, who I assume is the character you're talking about, "You're not autistic."

Yeah, he did. I watched this show too, but it was really crappy and boring, and I have no idea how they'll last very long if their only setting is the burger shop. :P

build a bridge and get over it.

Let's also forget all the other groups these cartoons insult. Don't like it, don't watch. It's all meant comedically.

It's not that bad that they're making fun of autistics. We want to be treated like everybody else, and they make fun of everybody else. At least we're being included...

So don't watch the show if it offends you. Protesting will get you nowhere.

I am against the mistreatment of those who are on the spectrum, but I find that if you complain about one thing, often it will get you nowhere.

I've not watched it. The animation alone puts me off the show.

It amazes me what passes for entertainment and makes it to production.

Protest and controversy generates interest. A protest campaign is likely to achieve the exact opposite of what you'd like. That being said, I haven't seen the show so I can't say whether or not what was aired was actually offensive.

I've just searched youtube for the cartoon, and it looks boring. I've noticed the man doing the voice acting as bob plays coach mcguirk on home movies, which is a brilliant programme by the way.

Did you actually watch all of it? When they started the joke, I though "Oh hell, this is going to be bad", but really, they're just satirizing people's tendency to assume autism means someone's dumb, and the people that falsely diagnose themselves as autistic as an excuse for being dumb. They weren't making fun of autism, they were making fun of idiotic people that misrepresent it.

The pilot aint exactly gonna be the best episode of a show.

Ill give this show a few more episodes to see if it worth sticking with.

That was my take on it.
I may be in a minority here, but the show actually made me laugh.

And "The Master" in the Venture Bros.

I quite agree, I found it funnier than anything MacFarlane and Groening have produced in years.
