I am just wondering why people have this negative bias towards prostitution?

There was some aspie who paid a whore and it made him feel a lot better.

What is wrong with a prostitute?

Because it's a degrading way to live? Not to mention gross.

You used the word "whore"..that's derogatory...I think if you analysis it further you will see why.

I think they think prostitution is a proliferation ground for STDs and HIV/AIDS.

Or it goes against their religious beliefs.

As a harm reduction strategy, legalization and licensing with medical checkups might be helpful. From a sociobiology/evolutionary standpoint we may be against it because it doesn't facilitate leaving copies of our genes. There are also important relationship and emotional components that are missing, and the reasons on both sides of the transaction may not feel right for most people. I myself am biased against it somewhat, whether the prostitution is explicit or effective, for example marrying for money. Both men and women can be whores in that regard.

Probably has to do with the whole notion of renting a human being's body so that you might f*ck it.

Just a guess.

There's that too.

Basically what the lady ^^up there is saying is she is taking it personal because shes a female (thus making her automatically biased and emotional) that God for men with no game still find females attractive and use financial means instead of social means to acquire pleasure in the form of sexual gratification which is by the way completely natural and like I said in some other thread hard wired into every male animal body chemically and physically.

^^BTW That was in no way a reflection on my own lack of social skills just me playing devil's advocate to open your mind up a bit :p I think depersonalization of humans male or female is wrong because I actually have a deep inner conscious and I agree with your statement but I think everyone needs to take a step back and look at the big view, I'm sure it would help allot of politicians :D

I never really got this my self. If it was legal we could cut down on the STDS. have a system set up like porn stars do it(if a porn star gets an STD more then twice they are no longer used for shows) if we taxed it thats a lot of cash. Its two WILLING people so it cant be degrading. it would be safer to the working person. and if it was rang as a real business the workers could get a real share than with pimps.

I have nothing against prostitutes thsemselves, and if they're choosing to do that from a decent position, great. But a lot of women are practically forced into it by circumstances, which is sad

Because they want to feel morally superior to someone, and are afraid of minding their own business.

Or because I genuinely believe what I say.

God forbid I actually do that!

I'm only against it if the person is forced into it.
Otherwise - life and let life.

We had this discussion in my philosophy class last semester. The prof. brought up an interesting argument:

Do we not all 'rent' ourselves daily to others in return for financial remuneration? The case for prostitution is based exclusively on the premise that the person providing his/her body for the sexual act is somehow less ethical. So why is it less ethical ?

The conclusions were that historically it comes from religious beliefs ( which stem from the preservation of political and economic power that are presented to the general populace through religion) and women protecting their interests (married women protecting their status as the sole benefactor of the male provider).

My opinion is that sex is something you do only with those you. It may be because I do't get pleasure from it that I think this way, but I don't understand why you would do it for simple pleasure.

I can understand having to do it for getting money for a poor family, but even then there are alternatives.
