I've got this new shampoo, selsun blue naturals. It's got salicylic acid in it to combat my sebum problem.

It's just that a few hours later, it'll get all itchy in places, even flaky.

weird.

Is it possible that the shampoo is too strong for you? Or maybe there's a corresponding conditioner; when I went without conditioner for several weeks, my scalp got dry and itchy.

I heard a hair specialist on tv last week say the secret after shampooing is RINSE, RINSE and RINSE again............people don`t rinse enough which causes itchy, dry scalps.

Also I believe a reduction in eating dairy products can have an effect.

Not weird really if you look at the ingredients and consider what it does to hair/scalp.

Sulphates (ammonium laureth sulphate and ammonium lauryl sulphate in this case, worse than SLS's found in most shampoos) are A. a skin irritants, and B. drying so damage hair and scalp, also salicylic acid is not there to deal with sebum (which would be less of a problem if you didn't use shampoo to wash your hair with, FYI) but to exfoliate the top layer of skin in order to prevent build-up of dead cells that lead to dandruff, so if too harsh or if using it when you don't have dandruff/have a specific type of dandruff not caused by non-specific accelerated cell growth) it may cause irritation and flaking.

This brand also contains various other ingredients which are skin irritants and allergy risks, see ingredients, so you may experience problems from any of these.
