Philosophical Mysticism - "The Truth is derived by Non-Rational Means".
Philosophical Rationality - "The Truth is derived by Rational Means".

Is well-balanced Reason a combination of the two?

I want to start a revival of Sumerian similar to the Living Latin movement: Sumerian has a very large corpus of texts, comparable to Classical Hebrew or even Ancient Greek I believe, is a very regular language and is not only among the 2 oldest recorded languages in the world (along with Egyptian) but, unlike Egyptian, it is not connected to any extant group of people directly so it is quite neutral. I think Sumerian needs a new, logoalphasyllabic writing system, to make it feasible for revival, though the writing system should have strong similarities to the original cuneiform in structure.

I would love to see Sumerian taught in high school classrooms and modern literature translated into Sumerian.

I've heard something similar before. Satan is freedom from God's tyranny.

That's not at all what it means, but okay. :)

My woodburning stove has given me a new appreciation for the local liberal media, especially the free alt-news papers... :P

Whether one believes in a religion or not, and whether one believes in rebirth or not, there isn't anyone who doesn't appreciate kindness and compassion.

Why is it that people always try to fog the lines between acceptable criticism and pointless insult?

Still waiting for those jetpacks, science. Thought I'd put it out there.

have been here for a decade or so,

im waiting for one that flies more than 25 minutes.

other than that i think we should ban all paper comercials, i receive around 60 punds of useless paper a week, most of it bleached.
registering for our no comercials program doesnt seem to have helped.

I was awoken by a dream the other night: I dreamed I was about to die. The next thing I knew was floating in the air and flames approaching from all directions. My exact thoughts at that moment were: "I'm dead! Oh crap there is an afterlife! I've gone to hell! Bugger!". Then I woke up. As an atheist I found the dream somewhat disturbing but my thoughts quite amusing.
