Query about feelings about pets.

I find that I view animals that I care for to be really great and think I may be biased. For example, I will look at a picture of a cat and think Aww, cute, but not as cute as Al.

I was wondering if other people felt the same about animals that they care for?

Also, am I biased? Clients of my Mum (when they see Al or Toby, the Kerry Blue terrier) say "What a beautiful/fine cat/dog". They happen to be very smart as well, they can open doors, know their names and each others names, understand lots of words and they seem to have a high EQ (if I'm gloomy Toby glues himself to my side and keeps on trying to give me his toys to play with). Although, they both can be disobedient at times and they are not perfect, to me sometimes they are perfect for me.

I share a very close and special bond with my 10-year-old longhair cat, Miss Kitty. I suppose in some respects I treat her as though she were my own child in that I find every excuse to show off pictures of her, and she is one of the main things I talk about with strangers. Mainly because pets are a "safe" topic to talk about, but also because I secretly like bragging about her.

While I think every cat is cute, Miss Kitty is one of the cutest in my eyes because of my deep emotional attachment to her.

My own dog is far cuter to me than anyone elses dog. Because she's my friend, not some picture of some puppy running around in the snow.

Even if she's all lumpy, and there's a tumor above her eye, and there's fur sticking out everywhere and she has scar marks in her fur. She's 11 years old and worn out, but she's far, far cuter than that puppy photo will ever be to me.

Chico is cuter to me than any other dog will be, because he's my baby.
