This is a common christian mis-conception. For as long as blood test's were available, (and later DNA)It's been determined that 10% of children born into wedlock, were fathered by someone else other than the husband. Promiscuity is hardwired into the human brain (and genitals for that matter). It exists for good reason.

Door handles are just as bad if not worse, you should really wash your hands before AND after to be really safe.

But stuff like Hep C I think can be transmitted through saliva, so kissing is out and even using the same cup, it's not really an STD though.

Herpes is extremely common and if you get cold sores then you have it already, just that there are two slightly different types, normal herpes and genitial herpes. You can get herpes even if you do use a condom.

Also keep in mind most STDs dont give any symptoms or symptoms can disappear after a while even without treatment, but the disease is still there, something to keep in mind.

Hepatitis C is carried in the blood, but it is recommended not to share toothbrushes or razors.
