How do you manage the fact that people are constantly playing games and trying to get the upper hand on you? It is a characteristic I notice in unbalanced k9, when they are neurotically obssessed with something. The scarry analogy is that when a dog is obssessed with getting the upper hand on you he means to completely destroy you. I find dealing with this behavior is exauhsting and makes it difficult to relax even when I'm not in directly exposed to it.

I agree. I used to ignore it and not stoop to that level, but it can cost you everything taking the high road. I didn't understand why people just didn't want to do the right thing, but they have different priorities of what is right. The best I know is to try to disarm people before they can use and abuse you. And I have tried to instill more competitiveness within myself. It is hard though and you've got to learn to know what battles to fight and what to let go. Supporters and backers are especially hard to win over for people here.
