While there are plenty of parents with autistic children on Twitter, autistics themselves seem poorly represented.

Are you on Twitter? If not, Why not?

Twitter has the potential to be a great communication platform for autistics. It is easy to find others with similar interests and the low character limit does a great job of hiding social awkwardness. Plus, because it has a neurologically diverse user base, more autistic users means more positive exposure for 'normal' people. Its a win win situation.

Twitter may seem pointless at first, but it can actually be very valuable. You must experience it for yourself.

To get started, see: How to use Twitter effectively.

You can find me @robehickman, Whats your Twitter handle?

I think I've been on the twitter site once or twice. I don't get what the purpose is.

I use twitter in read only mode. I've tweeted twice. I have two followers, who I think follow me out of sympathy for having no followers. It's good for following people who like to drop links to things of interest to me.

I don't really see the point in tweeting unless you have some kind of audience liable to be interested, and I don't really intend to create that audience any time soon.

I tend to stick to FB, forums and blogs.

Might change me mind in the future, I had about turns on facebook and blogging.

I use Twitter as my primary social network communication service. I like the uncluttered nature of 140 characters. Handle: @ItsBridgetsWord

For those capable of shortening their thoughts, yes.

All the short text speak drives me batty.

I cannot describe the point of Twitter, You must experience it for yourself. To gain that enlightenment, you need to use it actively.

If its done only one thing for me, Twitter taught me to condense my writing.

Definitely. I was totally anti-twitter before Milla Jovovich joined last year. Now I'm completely in love with it.

I got an account to keep tabs on local events and spread the word about myself as a busker.

I've been on twitter for about a year, but recently made a new acct just for my jokes and it's been my obsessive "narrow focus of interest" for the past month.
