I can recite verbatim all Original Series movies.

I once needed a Star Trek intervention. I was involved in a teen group and the adult leaders saw me make gestures and recite the shows and movies and trying to emulate Spock or Data. They sat me down and told me why my behavior wasn't acceptable.

Yet, I never dressed as a Klingon or Vulcan or whatever to conventions and in everyday life. I was told, however not to wear so many pins and not to wear my shirts so often.

They fear that you emulation of the Star Trek universe is affecting you social life too much and they're basically reminding you that you're not from that universe and that you need to act like a human and not like you fandom.

Then their definition of human activity is far too narrow. They need to spend a little time hanging out at someplace like the San Diego Comic-Con. MJ would have fit right in there...

You could go to those cons wearing the jedi robe&saber with a trek badge on the chest and spock's ears.

Well, at least you were imitating Spock and Data and not a lame character like Neelix.

Neelix wasn't even a glint in Berman's eye when this happened. I believe this all happened back when TNG was in its first season.

I really like Star Trek, but I was never a fan; give me Doctor Who any day.

Neelix is many things sir, but he is most defiantly not lame.

Neelix is to Star Trek what Jar Jar was to Star Wars.

Because I love both. Actually, Trek less and less.

I own one "Starfleet Academy" sweatshirt and have been to (part of) one convention. I am a huge fan of all the series except DS9 (sorry, just never got into it).

This is one of my favorite websites: Star Trek Wiki: Memory Alpha
