Well, I know its kind of odd due to my age, being that I'm 20, but, David Bowie is by far my favorite musical artist of all time.

Hes pure genius, He has so many different styles and such class to his music.

I've found that most people just can't seem to appreciate the finer works of Bowie though, and I'm just curious if there is anyone on this forum that enjoys David Bowie as much as I do(that may not be possible), but, at least enjoys him to a certain extent. Hes also quite the character, hes been through many phases many musical styles, he was even in a monastery training to be a monk for a period of time. The man is almost mythical to me, but, most people just think of him as some weird cross-dressing bi-sexual freak that makes sh***y music. I beg to differ entirely, he has more brilliant songs I believe then any artist around. I have most of his CDs on my computer and he is probobly the most frequently listened to artist by myself. I do listen to other stuff though, just, David Bowie is sort of an Idol of mine.

Any comments?

Also, here are a list of some of my favorite songs, not that anyone may neccessarily care ;). Bold Indicates personal Favorites.

Weird you would post this and what's at the top of your list. I've had "Ashes to Ashes" stuck in my head for three days now.

"the shaking of nothing is killing... just pictures of jap girls in synthesis and i... ain't got no money and i ain't got no hair... but i'm hoping to kick... but the planet is glowing..."

i like starman and a space odicy, infact when i first found out about my own aspieness i played starman on repeat all the time for about a week, for the first time in my life i found i could identify with the starman:

Theres a starman waiting in the sky
Hed like to come and meet us
But he thinks hed blow our minds

Theres a starman waiting in the sky
Hes told us not to blow it
Cause he knows its all worthwhile

i can understand exactally how he is feeling on that side of things.

i also like changes and oh you pretty things.

My favorite song he did was The Man Who Sold The World. Kurt Cobain did it later, but Bowie wrote it, I think.
Has anyone seen the movie from the 70's that david Bowie starred in, The Man Who Fell To Earth?

Well, I was obsessed with David Bowie when I was 20. (I'm 28 now). When my parents insisted on me having a 21st, I would only agree if I could dress up as Ziggy Stardust - short red hair and all...
I get obsessed with Rock Artists. Before Bowie it was The Beatles in my teens. I have moved onto others, but I always love the old favourites.

David Bowie kicks ass. He released a hugely disproportionate amount of the great music that came out in the 70s. 80s Bowie is OK, but comparing him to his 70s self is like comparing modern-day Prince to 80s Prince: just not anywhere close. My favorite Bowie album is probably Lodger (takes the experimentation of Low and Heroes and injects it into pop songs) but the song I can't get out of my head right now is Queen b***h.

edit: Whoa, so aparently this thing self-censors. I've never actually tried to use profanity before here. Even though in the context not profane, but I digress...

I went off Bowie a lot after he floated his back-cat on the stock exchange. to me, that wasn't a very rock n' roll thing to do. a bit of a 'breadhead' thing to do...

still, I like some stuff of his. 'scarey monsters' has always been my favourite album. also I like 'loving the alien' a lot, there's some very interesting chord changes in that song...
