I didn't start riding a bike until I was 12, and then 4 years later took driver's ed and got my permit.

I did not get the hang of it until I was 9 and from what I have seen my brothers do, I realize that even 9 is old for just learning to ride a bike

Ages five, eight, and eleven, I think. (The maxim '[ ] is like riding a bike, you never forget' has never applied to me. I have bad balance issues and I still can't ride well, and absolutely refuse to go on long bike rides.)

I think I was 10. I used training wheels for the longest time, and even when I didn't use them, I never went off of my block.

I was around nine. It took me a while to learn, but when I finally got the hang of it, I turned out to be a pretty good bike-rider.

When I was five, I told my parents that there was a monster under my bed. Like most parents, they didn't heed my warnings. They went to sleep that night in blissful ignorance. Luckily, I stayed awake, my eyes wide open as I listened to the bellows-like breathing of the beast under me. I wanted to get up and leave my room, but mortal terror kept me frozen in place. Finally, the behemoth slithered away from my bed and out of my bedroom, its monstrous stomach growling in anticipation of its meal. I lept out of bed and squeezed myself through my window. I climbed down the walls of my house and reached my brother's bike just as my parents' screams first shattered the calm night air. I had never ridden a bike before, but I was not about to let that slow my escape. I was a mile away by the time the beast's stomach muffled my family's cries.

Biking has been one of my favorite hobbies ever since. :D

I rode with training wheels at a normal age I guess, but I was definitely the last kid with the training wheels still on. I didn't take them off until I was at least 7 years old, and I only took them off then because everyone shamed me into it ("You're too old to have these still! Look at Tricia, she's only 5 and she doesn't need training wheels!").

I still haven't. I think I should probably give it a good try because it's good every once in a while to demonstrate to myself that I'm stronger then my anxieties.

I didn't learn until i 10 and i learnt without stabilisers. Part of my problem learning was lack of opurtunity. I love cycling and rode my bike to school through most of secondary school. My balance isn't great but practice makes perfect and my enjoyment makes it worth while.

Had a bike for a long time with training wheels. One day when I was ten I decided I wanted to learn to ride it (showed little interest before then) and so within a couple days time I was riding like a pro.

So, 10. And it was about the same time I learned to swim.

I must ahve been around 8-10 - it was terrifying but once I managed it, it was brilliant. I don't have wonderful balance but as long as I keep the momentum going I'm OK :)

Never did learn. I had very bad co-ordination problems as a child, but I've grown right out of most of them so maybe I should give it a go. My wifes been encouraging me to try, so I can go biking with her. Maybe I should, but I don't fancy hitting the hard ground at my age (51).
