I seem to have the attention span of a rock. I can't stay focused on hardly anything, and it sucks. I have trouble reading, because I will get distracted very easily and then have to start reading the paragraph or sentence all over again. Oh, and don't get me started on driving. I can't do it... I scare myself and feel like I'm going to crash because of my lack of attention to where I'm going. So as a result I don't drive much, in fact I avoid it as much as possible.

So what is everyone else's attention span like? Are you like me?

Yeah I have inattentive add. I rather just daydream. If I read anything I might jump
into a daydream and loose my place and it might take me a long time to even find the
last sentence I read. I rarely give any thing in the real world my full attention. I'm
trying to do something about it. I started fish oil which many say helps some ,but so far after about a month I say its not. I remember when I was writing a c++ program
to do an image conversion and display it. I would go from having no idea to do something feeling dumb then in a few minutes solving the problem and then feeling
smart. Then the process repeats over and over. Im talking going from wanting to eat
a bullet and 5 minutes later feeling great! Thats insane I can not do that any more.
I want to take an anti-ADD drug but the effective ones are not just sold on the net they require a rx and alot of $$$ to doctors.

Yeah I have ADHD on top of AS and have gone through periods in life where it depends on what I'm doing how much attention I have. Also I spent most of my life till I got diagnosed with ADHD this year (got dx'd with AS last year), unmedicated and ended up very disorganized, it's hard to get organized and get attention to some things.

I never read any posts longer than a small pragraph, or posts not split up into small paragraphs.

It is hard me to concentrate in reading, learning or remembering. When I try to concentrate I think about something other.

My attention span varies. If i'm interested in something it will take up my attention and focus for hours (sometimes days) but i will quite happily flick tv programs over with each add break, i tend two or more tv programs at once. I seem to need to be doing or thinking about something all the time. I hate not to be occupied, so if i'm siiting there with nothing to do, that's when my attention will start wondering. I rarely am anywhere without a book to read or something like that. If i have nothing to focus on i get really stressed.

Varies. I can stay focused for hours and hours on something (6... 10...) if it's interesting. And barely at all if it isn't. Mind you I also go out of my way to not pay attention to things sometimes :P

There are so many distractions I need to avoid. Truth be told I could probably work a lot more effectively if every few minutes I didn't have something come along and distract me, totally derailing my train of thought.

When I program, I'm frequently holding many thoughts at once. I need to concentrate heavily to have them all going. Writting notes helps a bit, but when something disrupts my focus it might be very hard to get back whatever brilliant thought I was having. I can get really deep in thought when I'm programming. And this is also when I work best.

It's only good when I keep myself disciplined.

It should be noted that I did about 5 things while writing this message.

I can dedicate an entire day to a single task (often forgetting to eat) if it's interesting.

If I don't find it interesting, I sometimes begin losing focus within minutes.
