With this frequent Star Wars discussion, thought I'd post this :P

This is asking more about which side one identifies with more.
For further discussion (could be a fairly boring topic just as this):
-What group do you feel is more interesting?
-Which do you feel is cooler?
-Which do you think is right?*
-Who would you side with?
(And anything else that comes)

*How could anyone really think the Sith are right. Mind you the Jedi are also idiots. So maybe this is a question of who is more right?

This might work better with individual characters, but dang it, I'm sticking with this. (Note that HK-47 owns you all. I feel sorry for the majority of you that don't know who he is. And unlike Squiggy, HK-47 is not something I just made up, and should indeed be worshipped as a god.)

Actually, Lucas could have learned a lesson from Roddenberry. Roddenberry was mostly responsible for coming up with the idea of Star Trek, but he let other people write scripts, direct, etc. Two of the best Star Wars movies, Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, were directed by people not named George Lucas.

I reluctantly side with the Jedi, but only because I don't want to be called a Sithhead.

its not that black and white, cut and dry, good or evil....you get my point.

each side believes in its cause, the only difference is the "dark" side aren't afraid to break a couple eggs to make an omelet

Hmm I guess the Jedi's are more interesting personalities as they are more introspective and philosophical.

However the Sith do look alot cooler stylistically and the "Dark Side" does have a certain allure...

I'd say, "F(bleep!) light side! F(bleep!) dark side! You're both evil." I mean, really, what's good and what's evil is never that clear cut in the real world--and even when it is, some people consider the evil things good or deny what's really going on. (During WW2 a lot of Germans denied the existance of concentration camps even after evidence surfaced.) I'd prefer to be unaffiliated--have all the passion and badassery of a dark "jedi" (I don't consider passion a bad thing at all), but a "light" jedi's emphesis on morality and compassion. Of course this'd mean I'd piss off both camps and would probably wind up dead before too long.

The revived Jedi of Luke Skywalker's time, yes. But the ones of Anakin's day? Arrogant, manipulative, insensitive, STUPID - they refused to rescue Anakin's mother from slavery and told him to put her out of his mind - what kind of "thinking" is that?

And when the first movie opened and the free trade federation wanted to break away from the Republic - or at least to have free trade - I'm like "Go for it!" Why were they in the wrong? Could it be the ancient aristocratic contempt for (sneer) mere merchants?

The way the Republic was operating then, if it wasn't Palpatine, it would have been Alexander. Or Julius.

The character Kreia in KOTOR2 is a pretty compelling arguement for the Dark Side.

A dedication to logic, reason, and the way things actually are, as opposed to wrecklessly following either a truly "good" or "evil" path, knowing that either can have consequences.

It seems that most individuals are drawn to the dark side either because of a visionless ambition, which suggest they are fools, or as a result of traumatic event, which suggests they're weak. Though the same thing could probably be said about a lot of Jedi's...

I chose the light side in both KotOR's. Kreia did make a point, but something made me suspect she was manipulating me - even before I gained dark side points doing things her way.

There is no one true state, or the true state is irrelevant. It's the action you take that puts you on your path. Not taking any action is apathy (though personally I disagree with that).
Besides, true Jedi don't follow the light side, they are the light side.

Lucas did not go as far as he could have with the force in his story setting. If it were real I would pick to use the power to help and protect. And much like a gun it's both the intent and the reasons you would shoot someone that are more important that the means.
So not Jedi or Sith. Jedi embrace order too much and Sith embrace disorder in the same way. And both have to learn from a master were are the self-mastered force users no were to be seen. And there was talk of balance in the force so were the Grey force users humm again out of sight

I kind of wanted to leave what are apparantly know as Grey Jedi out.

Mostly because it seems like they follow a set of beliefs that make sense.

And I'm not sure why I did that.
