Hi,

I've been reading the forums here for close to a year, and have learned a lot about AS from many of the posts. Reading about others' experiences has been vital to broadening my understanding of AS (this has helped much more than browsing online diagnostics and symptom lists). Anyhow, I've finally decided I ought to share some of my own experiences.

I'm 23-years-old and have always had a trouble making friends and establishing relationships, particularly since middle school. I have no diagnoses, but suspect that I may have AS/HFA or--perhaps more likely--Schizoid Personality Disorder. I'm wary of spending too much time dwelling on these things--I have already been contemplating them for a couple years--but still feel that they are very important (after all, AS is considered a "pervasive" disorder for a reason, right?).

In short, I'm in the same position as many others at Wrong Planet: I know I'm different, but can't put my finger on the exact reasons. It's great to be a member, finally.

Hi and welcome. The more I learn about the ASD spectrum, the more I realize there is a great range of differences among those on the spectrum. And like you, I have learned the most about it here. I have trouble with the idea of dwelling on it as well. Sometimes it only makes me feel less hopeful, knowing that this is something that is hard-wired in my brain, that I will find a place for myself with people I like, though I am lucky enough to have a few friends.
