I find that I drink a lot of Tea to the point of drinking more Tea than Water, during the week before my Period, when I have PMS. Does anybody else find that they drink more Tea, Coffee or Regular/Diet Soda Pop, through the weeks before their Periods, or am I the ony one?

I've noticed that just before that time of the month, I'm more likely to drink the blood of helpless human males.

Well Caffiene is a diuretic. You maybe unknowingly drinking it to reduce water
retention. But since your not drinking it during your period maybe it has something
to do with female biology. What is the biological reason for water retention during
a period? Maybe an evolutionary protection from excessive bloodvolume loss
during period. That bloat may have kept women alive millions of years ago now
your stuck with it.

No idea about the bloat / fluid retention thing. Not every woman gets it either.

Tea has lots of anti oxidant things in it and so does chocolate.

I tend to like eating chocolate around that time of the month. And salty things.

What about sodium to potassium ratio intake. Unless your a total health nuts the
odds are your eating way too much sodium and not enough potassium. I've been
trying to reduce sodium and boost potassium but its very hard! Anyway the logic
is excess sodium causes you to retain blood volume(thus boosting blood pressure
my problem) potassium tends to reduce the sodium and hence the blood volume.
Most natural food is high and potassium and low in sodium. I use "no-salt" a
potassium chloride/weak acid salt replacment when I can. A natural diuretic is B-6
I took it 15 years ago when I ran and I had to make a pitstop in the woods for natures call. You need several times the potassium to sodium in your diet.

i can not say that I drink lots of tea or soda... what I crave is red meat.. I think it might be because I need the iron that you loose.. I love liver.. I know roll your eyes.. But I love it one week before I get my period.

I think the tea & soda thing might also have to do with caffine, which helps with pain; I drink coffee for that reason. I get serious cramps a week before, then again the day of. I also get cravings for meat, which unfortunately leads to more cramps.

That explains why JulieKitty craves the blood of a helpless human male(for the
iron).

Right before that hideous time of the month, I eat and drink a heck of a lot, mainly sweet stuff. When I come on, apart from the odd can of coke and a few bars of chocolate, my appetite almost disappears.

I think during PMS one's progesterone levels are elevated which increases appetite and causes cravings. Getting enough potassium really isn't that hard if you can get your hands of the potassium chloride salt.
