Hey, guys. I would like you all to visit http://www.scribd.com/alex_sarmiento_3 and check out my online novel, "28 Years and 80 Days". I have been working on it since 2009, and it's been on Scribd since late last year.

Without going into much detail, it's the story of a young man rebuilding his life after a lifetime of abuse and tragedy. While it's in a sort of autobiographical format, it's not based on a true story.

So far, I have uploaded 20 chapters. I just finished writing a new chapter that will appear in about a month (not the next chapter, but an upcoming one).

I've already promoted my novel on my Facebook account. I've had over a thousand reads, but no one's left any comments or anything like that.

Because I'm a starving artist, these chapters will be available for download in PDF for a small fee, if you can afford it. Basically, $2.50 for chapters that are between 1 and 5 pages, and $5 for chapters that are more than 5 pages. Alternatively, you can read them for free on Scribd. I also am accepting donations via Paypal.

I've changed the prices to $1 a download for all my chapters. But I have more harrowing issues. I've been trying to promote my novel in various venues, but have had almost no success. Just today, I went to Survivor Sucks (a snarky message forum which I admittedly visit every day) and promoted my novel in the Off Topic section. You know what those b*****s did? They called me names and compared me to Jon Gosselin. Even by Survivor Sucks standards, it was extreme.

My writing isn't a joke. It may not be perfect, but IT'S IMPORTANT TO ME. You know what? It's bad enough when you try and try to get your work out there and people ignore you. But it's worse when people see your work and call you insulting names. I honestly don't know who I can share my work with anymore. I don't know any established authors personally. I don't know of any writing communities online that I can easily visit and share my work with. It's just not fair.

I'd read your story myself if I wasn't already editing like two books and in the middle of 3 honors projects. Keep on trying and don't take no for an answer. Every artist has critics.
