the last time I attacked college i was just ranting my anger out. But now I'm 100% serious! 4 year universities are a 100% stinking butt farting jerk faced waste of time, money, and soul. I'm telling everyone - unless you intend to be an engineer or a teacher (the only degrees worth anything) do not go to a 4 year university. I will explain why as well as list several acceptable alternatives.

First thing you should know is that these degrees are pure crap. Religion, Women Studies, African American Studies, communications, art history, and music therapy are just some of the many croc BS (and BS doesn't stand for Bachelor of Science, if you catch my drift). The following is the only way you can become successful in these classes.

Art History - The only way in hell: You get lucky and land a gig on the Millionaire show, and the final question happens to pertain to the History of Art

Physics - Daredevil who breaks every bone in his body because none of his classes were hands on, or a Physics Teacher if you get an education minor (which would work) [don't plan on being a physicist]

Women Studies - Straight to the gutter, or porn and then straight to the gutter

Sociology and Anthropology - Sociology and Anthropology Teacher, or the Gutter [don't plan on being a sociologist or anthropologist because their probably is no such thing - unless you just go out and do it on your own terms.

Religion - Better luck in the after life buddy. Until then, prepare to conform to society

2nd thing you should know is that "4 year Universities" tend to take an average of 6 years to complete - and I am not talking about the extra 2 for graduates! They recommend you take 12 credits a semester, and at that rate you would finish at 5, but most people finish at 6 anyways, so why are these places called 4 year universities?

And I don't have to mention that this superfluous environment is impossible to succeed in. NOW, WITH AUTISM, ASPERGERS AND THE LIKE the twenty or so hours of studying and writing essays each week will BE MAGNIFIED BY A BILLION FOLD BY OUR UNORGANIZATION, PROCRASTINATION, AND SLOWER LEARNING PACE! Each week you will think that you have a chance of catching up, but you will use TV and caffeine, and beating your head against the wall to relieve some tension, (or drugs and alcohol if you know a guy), and you will end up crashing the entire week. If you try to get caught up, you will ultimately fall flat on your face because the professors just keep adding and adding work, and we don't learn at the same pace as these NTs, which is THE ENTIRE REASON OF OUR DISABILITY! But I'm here to tell you that not once did one of my FART FACED NOODLE NECKED TROLL NOSED COFFEE DRINKING, LEISURE SUIT WEARING, ARRIVING ON TIME, ALL ORGANIZED AND TIDY PROFESSORS sit down and try to work with my disability! Because the truth is that they don't give a damn. College is a business, not a learning environment, and professors are not wise, they are employees who benefit their company, not the customer. That's my two cents. If you don't like it, take it and shove it up your butt - but you won't get a refund.

Here is some more adequate alternatives
01. No Schooling - I don't highly recommend this, but neutral brain cells are always better than negative brain cells
02. Self Learning - Libraries, internet, classes - Theirs a whole world out their waiting to be learned about, and a lot of it is free to the individual. Libraries are a great way to learn stuff.
03. Community College - 2 years is all you need - It'll be more hands on, more experienced, and you'll be a thousand times more likely to get a job. Nurses who enter a vocational school will be more hands on than 4 year university nurses who only read books the entire time. They will get out faster and be more successful in saving lives. As for electricians, plumning, or handymen in general - they get paid about 1.5x the amount of usual college graduates, despite what society sees them as.
04. Liberal Arts - A State College gives someone 2 choices of learning, usually enough credit room for a major and a minor, along with the 45/120 credit hours taken up by their superfluous required classes. A Liberal Arts College allows the student to study a broad array of skills, more hands on, the teachers actually work with the students, their are better internships available, and you won't end up being a corporate slave to the system. Furthermore, Liberal Arts actually encourages learning (imagine a college that actually encourages learning) whereas the state college basically says "this is how it is, no doubt about it. I'm right."

So in conclusion, please don't go to a 4 year university. You won't like it. I've been down that road. Their are much more successful alternatives, including doing nothing.

For the people who choose non-practical majors, and don't intend to teach, whether or not university serves them well really depends on their ability to network.

A university can be a great place to network and employers are more likely to hire you for a professional position if you have some type of degree because it takes a certain amount of incentive and dedication to get a university degree, so immediately a prospective employers knows someone with a university degree can complete tasks no matter how arbitrary and pointless they seem, as opposed to someone off the street with no formal higher education, of whom they know nothing about.

the only reason they'd hire you with a degree is because a degree says "Hey, this guy got a degree. He knows how to conform to society, to be like everyone else, and do what he's told", and yes that statement is sadly breading ground for employment.

What if I decide that college is a pain, and just go off and study something on my own? I might actually learn a subject BETTER that way.
