Can I use a Powermac G5 case for a Mini ATX motherboard?
I know the Powermac G5 uses a different form factor, but could I buy a ATX tray for it?

If so, it would make an EPIC i3 PC.

I think I'd be more inclined to mourn the passing of the case's original contents!

it has been done (friend did it) and is very doable/reasonable, be prepared to get very creative though.

The first thing to do is buzz off the standoffs on the original case and then figure out a way to mount a motherboard on it.

From here, figure out how to get the ports on the board into the back of the machine, the most clean looking way (externally) to do this is to cannibalize the ports on the original motherboard and run wire leads from the old to the new, that way you dont need to actually cut any of the case.

If you want addon PCI cards to work you will most likely have to dremel/nibble out the back of the chassis to fit your new board.

There have been many approaches to doing this. Happy modding/hacking! :)

But the (linked above) ATX retrofit tray avoids doing any of that. (creative though it is! )
