We all have a list of TV shows we hate. We may not even watch them, but we nonetheless cannot forgive the fact that these shows occupy a time slot that could otherwise be filled by something better. Which ones are so bad you wish they would get taken off the air? Mine are:

Jersey Shore--I'll admit the first season was pretty funny, but now that the show's dragged on and they've been living together on-and-off every three months or so, their antagonism towards each other has just made the show depressing to watch. I stopped watching in the middle of the third season after co-dependent-self-defeating personality disorder Ronnie broke up with manic-depressive-borderline-personality disorder Sammie for the twentieth time.

The Simpsons--they're just beating a dead horse, now. You know how horror movies become funny after you've become familiar with all their cliches? Well, The Simpsons is the exact opposite of that. And while we're at it...

The Fox Network--After 24 went off the air, I stopped watching Fox completely. They cancel all of their really good shows (The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Firefly) yet American Idol gets two nights out of the week. They could probably draw a bigger audience if they would just movie their evening news to eleven o'clock like everybody else, giving them an extra hour for prime time programming. Lord knows they can certainly afford it with all the revenue their crappy reality shows rake in, but no, they just have to be different.

Wipeout--Supposedly, Albert Einstein once said: "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result." That's what this show is. The obstacle course is nearly impossible to complete in one try, and the contestants are ordinary people of average or below average fitness (not like American Gladiators). Either put some crocodiles in that swimming pool or cancel the freaking show!

All reality soaps--Unscripted TV=out of work writers. "Real" people on film=unemployed professional actors.

The NBC Network--Unlike Fox, they don't put as much emphasis on reality TV, and actually have some pretty good shows. The only problem is, they all get cancelled after one season. The Event: CANCELLED. Law and Order: LA: CANCELLED. Chase: CANCELLED. If the network cannot get by when each show has a viewership of five million (which is not a bad number--Battlestar Galactica got by with a viewership of 2 million viewers), then they're in trouble. I probably won't even bother watching this network anymore, if only to avoid a sense of loss and/or disappointment.

I agree with all those except the simpsons because I still think there funny. I watch that show and It always makes me laugh. I don't watch to much tv but once I came in the living room and my mother was watching 16 and pregnant. I sat down for a second and watched and I hated it. It is telling young girls that if you get pregnant you can be on tv and get payed. It also shows that most teens are not smart enough to use protection. Such a boring show is the most important reason!

I disagree with you about Wipeout, because the point of the show is not to see who is the best at making it through the obstacle course, but about how funny it is when people fail at it.

I do agree with you about The Simpsons though (and horror movies!)

The Simpsons- Jumped the shark over a decade ago.

South Park- I used to love it years ago, but when I watch it today, I wonder how the hell it came to be on the air in the first place. How it is still going now is beyond me.

Can't think of anything else, offhand...

Every show on the air. Just a bunch of shows that try too hard to be funny and a bunch of generic dramas.

Hasn't been good TV for the most part since the 90s.

I can't even name one TV show I've watched that originated in the 21st century other than 24...and a short lived series called Tilt on espn.

The problem with reality TV is the people that make it are basically trying to tell the same stories that were told on scripted TV, but with "real" (and I'm using that word loosely) people. The Osbornes were basically a sitcom with a real-life eccentric family. Those stupid Real Housewives are supposed to be a real-life version of Desperate Housewives. The Hills was a spin-off of Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County, which was inspired by The (scripted) OC. And like the scripted shows, there needs to be conflict. Al Bundy gets into a feud with the neighbors, and retaliates against them in whatever way he deems convenient. Ozzy Osborne gets into a feud with the neighbors, and chucks raw meat over their fence. But the thing is, with a scripted show the conflict is not real, so it's just harmless entertainment where nobody actually gets hurt. With reality TV, the conflict is not only real, but the stars are actually rewarded for creating and exacerbating conflict and engaging in anti-social activities. That's why so many people who star in reality TV shows tend to be narcissistic, impulsive, anti-social types.

South Park: Should Kenny, Kyle, and the crew
be in high school or college by now?

Desperate Housewives: This has picked up
where Sex & the City left off. How this show
became so popular is something I still don't understand.

Law & Order-SVU: Boring, repetitive crap week after week.

American Idol: How the hell is this s**t still on after 10 seasons?
First season was very good, after that not so much.

Can't think of any other shows at the moment...

Geordie Shore - this is the UK version of Jersey Shore (I've never seen Jersey Shore), it's based up here in Newcastle so obviously I don't want a program that plays-up to all the prejudices people elsewhere in the UK have towards Geordies (people who come from Newcastle). Generally this new breed of semi-reality TV like Made in Chelsea or The Only Way is Essex should be cancelled.

Desperate Housewives - I like it but there's no where else for it to go, it's also guilty of way out-there story lines and when things get bad the season finale involves something even more out-there happening to magically get rid of the person/thing causing problems.

Hollyoaks - UK soap, started life as a daytime teen soap but has become a staple evening soap, it's vapid and cheesy with transparent characters and actors who simply couldn't act to save their lives, along with story lines that seem to go no where.

South Park - fairly certain it's popularity peeked about 13 years ago, it was funny because it was new and topical, now it's just old.

Total Wipeout - it's people running round an assault course, that's it...how is this entertainment?!

Two and a Half Men - I never understood why people in the US liked this show, it's terrible on many levels, had jerk Sheen and has been running far too long, now they've gotten rid of Charlie Sheen there's no point in keeping it going.

Oops TV - a rubbish version of 'You've Been Framed' (another show that maybe should have been cancelled some time ago), overplayed 'funny' videos, only Oops TV is worse because it has sound effects like 'America's Funniest Animals' which doesn't go down well, plus it's hosted by Justin Lee Collins, making 'funny' comments...you can practically here the poor guy tying the noose on his career.

Big Brother - here we thought the last series on channel 4 was the last ever...then channel 5 decided to continue the show.

If doesnt have bad ratings it doesnt deserve to be cancelled. Wipeout is a great show. Especially when the Harvard student won. The great thing about him winning is he had to pay his own way through college.

Most reality TV. What happened to working hard and having talent for fame? It seems that all you need for fame is to be born to a wealthy family and have a sex tape out.

Eastenders. Or at least people should stop talking about it.

Top Gear. Too loud, racist, and pointless.

Sport News. Because it isn't.

There's talk that South Park may be going off the air voluntarily, as their contract with Comedy Central is just about up.
But the shows I wish would just go and die are crap like One Tree Hill, and 90210 - that is, teeny bopper dramas that I DESPISE!! !! !! !! !! !
