Could you make a career out of it somehow? My obsession is music and I am doing a music degree. I plan to make a living form teaching music, playing in an orchestra and a chamber group, and composing.

You'll need a career someday. Go get a EE.

The key to my survival and success was not controlling my obsessions, but choosing to fix on one for the remainder of my life and make it the focus of my work. So far, it's worked reasonably well.

The only way I can control my obsessions is to have more than one. It can be really dangerous for me to have just one current obsession because it consumes my whole life. If there is more than one obsession, my focus is diffused and it's not so painful.

So if I find myself in an obsession that's starting to consume me, I will consciously try to focus on another one. (It doesn't always work.)

My Obsession is Routemasters, but unfortunatley, for me, that Train has sailed.

I can re-live the Hippie Dream and work at a Plant Nursery.

I think you should have a balance between your cyber-life and your real life.
