Untamed Youth (1957) on Mystery Science Theater 3000 (1990) - episode # 112 (season 1, episode 12)

This is a movie, but like all MST3K shows, it is a television episode too. It's a coin toss where to place it.

Two sisters are arrested in a small town where the judge, who is in business with her younger conniving lover boy (Russ Tropp - character name), sends teens and young adults to his cotton farm where he gets super cheap labor. The girls and boys live in different barracks. It is a racket. Lover boy, has a tendency to get the young girls pregnant. Spoiler. One girl, age 19, called "baby", dies when she is 5 month pregnant. The prisoners are fed canned dog food, and calls it Beef Stew.

The boys barracks includes rock singer Eddie Cochran, who while singing a song that has the line "they ain't gonna make a cotton picker out of me", Joel and the bots says it's not going to make a singer out of him either. I'm certain they knew who he was and was making themselves look silly. He sings a couple times.

The girls barracks includes an actress Joel and the bots notice bears a resemblance to Greg Brady (Barry Williams - Brady Bunch). It makes a fun running joke. Actress Mame Van Doren is one of the sisters. She sings a couple times. During the first, one of the other girls plays a guitar, which Joel and bots observes gets a full rock band sound.

I'm watching Mare of Easttown.

I've watched it before but I love Kate Winslets character in it. She reminds me of Sarah Lancashire's character in Happy Valley

Coronation Street

Episodes from early March 1993. I'm getting the impression that The Street was at its peak in the early 1990s, but by 1993 it was maybe just getting past its best. Far too much emphasis on childcare and such things here, undoubtedly important but not exactly riveting. Still some fairly interesting characters and storylines though, involving the likes of Angie Freeman, Doug Murray, Tracy Barlow and, as ever, Mike Baldwin.

I'm still on for Dexter but I've been watching other things as well but it's still the same things as what I said before so there's no point in saying it again...just to say

Will Trent

Season 2, episode 6 - We Are Family - 4/9/2024

I really enjoy Ramón Rodríguez as Special Agent Will Trent. I like the character.

Will finds out he has an uncle. John Ortiz plays that role. I've seen him before, but could not place it. He's been in several things, but I think I remember him from Silver Linings Playbook. That is what I'll watch next.
