On my blog today (http://lifeontheothersideofthewall.blog ... hotos.html) I wrote about the difficulty of posing for photos. I'm just wondering if this is something that happens to everyone, or if the percentage of those that don't like it is higher for those of us who are on the spectrum.

Hate it. I hate smiling for no reason, and I especially hate people telling me to "stop being like that" when I avoid having my picture taken. My whole family thinks I'm an as*hole, and 95% of it is directly attributable to them refusing to just leave me alone.

I can't smile on photos without looking even worse than I look normally, and I never like the look of myself on photos.

I hate posing for photos and I can not smile for a picture at all.

Same. I do smile, but naturally. Telling me to smile for no reason usually gets the opposite. I hate posing and smiling for pictures.

I HATE having my picture taken. I'd rather masturbate with sandpaper than fake a smile for some photographer. I only have one picture online for a reason.

I hate getting my picture taken. I always look awkward in them. Though I don't mind being the photographer. Just not the model.

"I quite simply don't know how I should be in the space that I am"

Sums things up quite nicely. I don't know how to pose and although I can smile easily enough it won't be natural so looks bad, it's all the more difficult when posing with someone else and I simply do not get group shots - you know, the ones you see from people's nights-out clubbing, where everyone is leaning into the shot and seem to be saying 'look at us being wacky, we're having so much fun!'.

I always look HUGELY different from one photo to the next, as well as looking horrific in many photo's, so that makes the whole photograph taking experience all the more upsetting because seeing what I *might* look like is traumatic for me.

Yes, I really hate being photographed. The camera is like a huge rude eye staring right at me, and if there is a flash, the after image takes forever to disappear. And I hate people who, when they see me edging away, insist that I stay and even follow me around with their stupid camera. :x

I despise having my picture taken. And I especially dislike it when I get the exaggerated sad/disappointed look from my family and they say things like "what if something happened to you tomorrow? How would your grandbabies remember you?" and other attempts to guilt-trip me.
They should have figured out by now it never works, unless I am really sick of being pestered, and then the photo looks even worse... and considering the babies are 14 months and 5 weeks, they arn't going to remember me anyway!

I hide behind someone else in group photos :D and never smile. I can't make myself smile if there's nothing to smile about.

One time smiled for a picture and my mom said it looked like an expression from Data(star trek)

I still don't care for it. I try to ignore the camera or at least not look at the lens. Maybe just over it or to the side.
