Um, hello.

I've heard a lot of stories about people on the spectrum being overly sensitive to heat and being able to withstand the cold, but does anyone else have a problem with being over sensitive to cold?

I can't stand being cold and members of my family quite often come home and have to open all the windows because it's too hot for them to be in the room with me, when to me the temperature seems perfectly comfortable. I'm seeking a diagnosis very soon I'd like to know if it's something I should bring up?

I'm intolerant to both. The temperature has to be just right or I can't bear it.

I have the opposite problem. While I have no problems being in temperatures as low as 0ºF(factoring in windchill), any time the thermometer goes above 80ºF or so, I'm absolutely miserable. I sweat uncontrollably, and I don't want to leave the house. I live in Las Vegas, so life is not fun right now. And won't be for several months. Feels hot, man.

hi there,

my skin gets red at many places when I suddenly turn into the cold (especially in winter) and also when I go swimming in not so warm water. I don't know why my body works like that.

thanks for any hints for better understanding this too

anton

i feel your discomfort. i was in vegas october of '93 and it still felt too hot for me, with high humidity and temps in the 80s. i sweat like a pig the whole time i was outside there.

I can adjust to either hot or cold, but I really, really don't like cold a/c in the summertime.

I do own a lot of thermal underwear, though, so I have help adjusting to the cold.

Hi

I am really intolerant to the cold, I struggle washing my hands in cold water, showering in cold weather and going swimming. My bones feel like they hurt and hurt myself shivering.

However, between about 22 and 30c, I can run around while everybody else is forced to sit by an air con.

Aren't our bodies strange!

For me, I need everything cold. I think it's because I live in a place that's generally cold most of the time. I have to wash my hands in cold water, and I need to let hot foods cool before I eat them. I'm more like heat intolerant.

I can't stand temperatures below 0C and I don't like them below 10C. I sleep with a heavy blanket even in the summer, partly because I like the weight on me and partly because I still get cold in the summer.

Nope. It's heat I can't take. I can never get too cold and can even go outside in the middle of winter without a jacket and still don't get cold.

I can't stand the cold - which I define as anything under about 50 F in winter and 70 F in summer. I like the 80s. I can tolerate higher temps pretty well, even into the low 100s as long as there's enough water. If I'm in anything approximately 70-73F or cooler without a jacket for very long my fingers will start turning purple.

Then again, I live in a warm area and it usually doesn't stay below 32F for very long, even in winter.

The cold is brutal for me. I carry around a hoodie in the summer.

I'm intolerant to both heat and cold. I have issues with circulation in my hands and feet that mean that my hands sometimes go numb in the summer, and really have issues in the cold.
