why do NTs think we HAVE to be upset about being different..

How should we know what we are missing not being NT

I never understood why disabled people kept saying they don't need pity but acceptance until I got diagnosed with AS myself...

Yes, very much so. I have always been extremely aloof and introvert, and people have never understood or accepted that I wasn't unhappy about it. I am content with being me, but they don't get it because they feel so differently about it. That theory of mind issue works both ways.

I have the opposite - I get NT relatives telling me NOT to be upset about having AS.
