I know, from personal experience, that there is a religious debate between the atheists and those who are into religion. The debate can be quite acrimonious... Everyone around them have to be involved, it seems.

How can both sides reconcile and look beyond their religious beliefs?

Btw I am apathetic towards religion... please enlighten me

There is by me no need for reconciliation. Few if any of the theists around here are antiatheists - several like me are ex-atheists. Few of the thinking atheists seem to be confirmed antitheists.

I see. It really happened to me in real life - I was embroiled in a vicious religious argument that ended up in fights. Luckily it was over.

Welcome to the club - though in my real life case all the viciousness was on the part of my theist-fearing and -despising brother, with whom for that reason I am no longer in communication, though I occasionally drop him a word to see if diplomatic relations are possible.

I don't care for agreement or calls for unity or dropping free associations, or that evangelicals dropped their reservations about the papacy and accepted the pope, I just wish that both sides were more civil about it.

Because it is insanity on all sides to rabble rouse and demonize instead of exchanging ideas in a civil and civilized manner.

Civilized discussion is needed in this topic. But Civilized discussion is hardly "letting go of differences". It is... discussion.

Easily done ... the religionists need only remember that their religions are based on unprovable faith-based claims and apocryphal stories, while Atheists need only remember to be polite when demonstrating the fallacy of those same faith-based claims.

Remove the tax-exempt status from all religions; remove all faith-based teaching from secular schools; and remove all Atheists from Munchkinland in Oz.

Religions cannot be taxed or exempted. religious organizations can be and are.

REMOVE faith based teaching? In New Haven in the 50s there was no faith-based teaching in the public schools [and little or none visible in Episcopal Sunday School - and none at home].

Surely you meant to say MOVE all atheists TO Munchkinland?

I mean what I said:

Religious organizations can be taxed and can be exempted.

Note that at least in this country being a religious organization does not mean you will satisfy the criteria, and I have been told those who are exempted have to watch their step so as not to lose it.

I will type slowly so that you can follow along...

Religions own the tax-exempt properties. Taxing the properties would mean taxing the religions.

Removal of faith-based teaching in one obscure corner of the plante does not remove it everywhere.

Since neither Munchkinland or Oz exists, there can be no Atheists in those places. Stop trying to change what I say to support your ego.
