I'd just like to say that I'm not really a big obsessed Harry Potter fan as I have never read any of the books, nor do I plan too, though in the not too distant future I might. I kinda have problems with reading. I can read properly, but nothing really long like books. I can read comic books because they have pictures and speech bubbles.

With that said I have seen and got the first 7 movies and plan on seeing the new one and I think they're good. I don't think they're as brilliant as some people say but I really do like these movies non the less. The first 2 are good but I really like the other ones better because they're more darker. If I were to do a list of my top 100 movies I think I would have room for not all the Potter movies, but alot of them. I'd say 1 or 2 of them would not be on the list. If I only did a list of 50 movies, then I think only 1 Potter movie would be there and quite near 50.

Of course the enjoyment and understanding of the films is increased by reading the books. I admit I struggled with the books but somehow I understood the main parts of the storyline.

It really annoys me that all of my family are completely lost with the films and don't like them, but I get them and love them :D

So none of them are keen to see the films with me, so I'll probably have to wait until TDHPt2 is out on DVD or look like a weirdo and go to the cinema on my own :(

One of my sister's boyfriends was really into the movies and tried to get me to watch Part II. I fell asleep before making it halfway through.

i read the books, i was about 11 or something when they first started and my uncle would buy me the new one as soon as it came out. never really got into the films....
i'd always rather read the book version of something first, i like to picture things in my head my way, not some directors way.

I know my version of DH that I envisioned in my head while reading the book is 10x better than David Yates' work. His films are just horrible to the extreme and even the final film looks horrendous from what I've seen in previews. My music is also much much better. My vision of Harry Potter has always been more in line with The Lord of the Rings trilogy: Epic and elegant. David Yates does too much teenybopper comedy and Twlight-style wangst in his films with ridiculous special effects that annoy me greatly.

Theres nothing wrong with going alone. I do it all the time. It's probably better that way.

Question

Does anyone besides me like the movies but have never read the books?

You know you can get the audible books from the library if reading is too cumbersome. Just a thought.

I love the books and the movies. But, you really have to have patience to read and enjoy her books. I know plenty of avid readers who find the Potter books too cumbersome, so you're not alone.
