^ bit of ferret trivia for you. I was an extra in a film starring the actress who played the mother of that dead baby (£80 for a days work).
That must have been fun! I briefly knew a film extra. Cool guy. Suffered greatly from poverty.
It was an interesting insight into film making, I was in a nightclub scene and everyone had to dance to the music and drink pretend lager, then the music was stopped but everyone had to keep dancing so the actors could be heard. It is possible to get by being an extra but you need an agent who works hard and doesn't charge much.
You're also responsible for your own wardrobe. Like if you're appearing in a scene set in a gentleman's club you'll have to show up at oh-dark-thirty looking the part on a full-time extra's income.
That's true most of the time but depending on the show , the costume department may provide you with clothes.
When I was approached for the nightclub scene, the person who asked me said we are looking for really freaky f****d up people
Guess I fitted the bill
