Title says it all.

Apparently she has died, aged 27. It would not surprise me at all if it turns out to be drug related. Or who knows, could the news be wrong? :?

EDIT: I am aware that MasterJedi made the same thread as this, but oh well. He got there first

Why do so many people in the entertainment business use drugs as often as they do?

I'm not surprised.

What a waste of talent. It's not surprising but I guess I sort of hoped she would get help and make a come back.

RIP

This is devastating. This is just devastating. Death is the End. There's no coming back from that. I know I'm stating the obvious but this is getting to me very badly even though she's a celebrity whose songs I've heard and who I've seen in tabloids. She was a lovely beautiful person through-and-through and her lovely voice is still there on recordings like she's alive and breathing. This is horrifying.

I feel terribly sad. I suppose it's partly I used to see her out an about in Camden all the time she was so down to earth and my good friend is her neibour. This is such a loss to music. Another one lost to drugs. She will always be remembered as one of the greats. :(

:( It's so sad, but not really surprising, she was was on a really self-destructive path.

She really should've gone to rehab...

...too soon?

In all seriousness, RIP Amy

God I hope there;s nothing around me ocurring like this now, some downward spiral that could be stopped if only it's stopped in time, the moment before death starts and can't be stopped I guess at the very latest...

this is horrible, it's my worst fear, something that CANNOT BE REVERSED happening

Oh poor Amy and poor her family, I remember shen she won a Grammy she was having a concert in London and she accepted it via videoconference and she called her mom up onto the stage and I think her dad too and they both seemed so happy and proud

This is soul-destroying. Poor poor Amy, I saw a picture of her as a little kid once

I can't believe her life stops here and that's all that can be done

This is nightmarish. Celebrities' deaths affect me so badly cause you feel you know them even though you don't but her especially, she was one of the girls always in the tabloids when I started my descent into madness and misery 6 or so years ago and I felt we were in the same struggle

I know I sound like an idiot but this really really gets to me

I would like to apologize and give my condolences to all the Amy Winehouse fans who are members of WP. You supported me when Pete Quaife passed away last year and now it's my turn to support all of you. Hugs. :O)

May she rest in peace.

Expectations, often impossible to meet; a subculture of peers accepting drug use as recreation with influence, finances, to obtain an unlimited supply of drugs, not normally accessible to the general population. Research suggests a link between creativity and a greater propensity for addiction in general, but it's not clear how much of it is environmental or genetic. It seems reasonable that all these factors would lead some in the entertainment industry to fall fast at a younger age that what we normally hear about among people in the general population.

Access to instant gratification is a huge problem, I think, not just in the entertainment industry but a growing problem in society, in general. It was hard to come by when I was young; but now there is easy access to it for more people than ever.

Finally, we hear, about every detail of personal lives of people in the entertainment industry, by nature of what they do. Prescription drugs, particularly pain killers are a huge problem in the general population. We don't normally have access to what led to the demise of the more common young folks, in the death notices of the local paper. The factors are probably similar in many cases, but just not in the spotlight.
