I just thought of this... randomly. and felt a need to post this.
Do you like games featuring good or evil monsters... would you want to play as the monster?
heres a game... that lets you play as old classic style giant monsters.
you probaly never heard of it.

it is called...
I was an atomic mutant.

the graphics and sounds are very poor... it is fun but gets boring quickly.
the idea is to destroy the "puny humans" becuase their atomic weapons mutated you.

Monsters include...
a giant floating brain... ugly but very powerful. I just hate to use this one... much too creepy.
the walking alien war machine... very difficult to control. in my opinion. it has laser weapons... very strong ranged attacks.
reptomicus... mutant lizard like godzilla... he is probaly the best monster in the game. he can eat "puny humans" to regain health.
the she beast... very good at destuction. not really the most powerful. she is shown on the front cover of the game box.

monsters I want to play as in a game.

last three above... not the brain... he is scary!
king kong like gorrila
giant snake
skeleton dinosuars.
re-animated living dinosuars.
giant robots with heavy weapons...like what was seen in armoured core.
living war tanks.
dragons

what else could be good for a monster themed video game?
What other games let you play as the monster?

My favourite game is The Darkness, in which you play as someone inhadited by The Darkness itself which give you demonic powers like giant snake heads that grow out of your back that can assassinate people and rip peoples hearts out of their chests, tenticles to whip and strangle people with, 'Darkness Guns' that fire dark energy at people/things, the ability to open 'black holes' in front of you, and, above all, the ability to survive after death. You can also summon darklings which are pretty much little monsters that like to rip things apart, but pesonally I prefer the atmosphere and story over everything else.

You might like a game called War of the Monsters, where you have a selection of about 20 (massive) monsters to chose from which typically fight the other 19 as well as tanks, hellicopters and even bigger mutents/robots/aliens/plants across roads, on builldings and in UFO's in a battle to the death using anthing you can get your hands on (like cars, gerders, rocks, pilllons, ect.).

Castlevania: Symphony of the night, you play a half vampire named Alucard.

The suffering, you play an inmate that can transform into a lumbering hideous Doom-like monster.

Is Yoshi a monster? Then anything where you play Yoshi.

Rampage.

I'd like to play in a game where you're an alien visiting earth. It doesn't have to be a kill-the-humans scenario either.

Why is Spore not the first thing here? 8O

:D Anyways, Spore (copyright whoever made it) uis a game where you create a creature starting from a single cell organism, all the way to going... IIIIIIIN SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE! Cool, right? You can choose how you act to others, do you beat up the little guy? Or are you going to fight Epics (those HUGE monsters) until their bitter end? (I emphasized their because you can respawn)

For the Playstation2 Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga (one and two), you become the monsters! It is an awesome and dramatic game. And there is a concept of good monsters and bad monsters in the game! I think it follows all of the above descriptions you wanted.

For the PC, Plants verse Zombies, monster plants are really effective tools. The newer versions let you play as the zombies too.

Kirby super star ultra to some extent does this.

And pretty much every zombie game since 2008. Even earlier than that too.

Okay.
One's a floating eyeball in electricity.
One's a giant Gorrilla.
One's a smagma gaint thing with four arms.
One's an alien with a dome on it's head and a tentical body.
One's a giant lizard.
One's a metalic military robot with no head.
One's a dragon.
One's a giant insect.
One's a blue robot with robotic wings and is more human looking than the other one.
One's a moving stone statue that can take off it's head and throw it at enemies.

That's all I can remember. Maybe there's only ten, can't remember.

I love those games. Some of the best story telling I've ever seen.
