Any one a Golden Key member at their college/university?

If so what does your chapter do... and how do you like it.

I have a Golden Key membership, and I'm guessing you're talking about the Golden Key International Honour Society (the OU spelling is intentional). But it's a waste of resources. They claim to be a prestigious society of some sort, not unlike the Stonecutters from a Simpsons episode, but actually, it's all very blah. They offer a credit card with their logo on it and discounts on car rentals, but nothing I actually benefit from.

When you're approaching college graduation, being a member of an organization with a stuffy-sounding title (with British spelling thrown in for good measure) may have a wow factor, but once you hit the harsh reality of the working world, no one really cares. Get the membership just for the heck of it if you can afford it, but if not, you're not missing out.

I have been invited twice so far, but have not yet purchased the membership. I am seriously considering it though.

They claim to be prestigious but they are not. They offer nothing in return for your membership except a title worth little to nothing. When I had a 2.98 GPA after my first quarter of college they invited me. Now my GPA is over a 3.5, and I get offers from actual organizations who don't require a membership fee over $10. Stay away from them. I've heard my college peers say it was nothing but a waste of money.
