Was wondering whether aspies are more inclined towards metal or other 'underground' music. I'd assume they won't be into pop so much, but I might be wrong.

I like some pop too :)

Anyways, yes I am into metal. Just not all the underground, "rise against the mainstream world by roaring like a pig!! ! BREEEEEEEHHHHH!! !!" type metal.

I tend toward the symphonic end, though I do appreciate speed metal and heavy metal as well. And heavy mithril is epic win.

I'm a mixed genre type of person. One minute I might be listening to this:

Yes, you are not alone. I've been into metal since I was 15. But my music taste are wide, it ranges from some pop, Oi-punk, hard rock, metal, aggrotech and folk music. And lots of others I haven't bothered to figure out which genre they belong in.

I used to like metal, but over the years the genre has changed, and now you're not allowed to call it metal unless it has severely downtuned guitars, triggered double bass drums, and growly/screamy/whatever "singing".

Regardless, I don't listen to it as much as I did in my angsty teenage years 8)

Yes, I listen to metal quite often. My favorite subgenres are gothic metal and black metal.
Also, you mentioned 'other underground music'. Yes, I'm definitely into many kinds of underground music. Dark ambient, goth rock, industrial, industrial rock, dark cabaret, darkwave, neofolk, martial industrial, EBM, ethereal, experimental, darkwave, deathrock, post-punk, etc...
But, the catch is that I also like pop :P

Metal fan here! I don't listen to music much at all, but when I do, it might be 80s or 90s metal (and some newer stuff). Even "hair metal" from the 80s, which many people make fun of. But I don't care...
