Hello Aspies of this board,

I am a 32 yo male who suspects to have AS. Since 2003, I have posted (more off than on) at a message board about social anxiety. But upon inspecting my behavior I suspected there is a deeper issue that leads to my anxiety. I randomly found a youtube video describing the symptoms and I think I fit many of them to a T.

I am socially awkward. I get on tangential monologues about my personal interests and can’t seem to notice people are not interested. I have obsessions like free throw routines of NBA players, and finding trivia on obscure TV shows of the 80s. I could go on and on but it may sound redundant.

I thought I would start this thread to say I am here and hope to read interesting topics.

Thanks for reading!

welcome

i am 44 and recdently diagnosed with AS.
i am quite content with the fact.

the condition is not progessively worsening as other illnesses.
you have it or don't

it helps my wife understand why i am different, but still the person she loves. AS in and of itself does not require treatment but some symptoms of co-existing conditions may benefit from treatment. from my understanding of AS, altho i may be wrong.

i do have anxiety, and depression issues which benefit from support and treatment.

my life has benefited from AS, in particular my ability to concentrate to a high level on topics at work or home,. focus like a laser on issues. as well colleagues find my complete lack of knowledge regarding social interactions a relief, when they come to me for advice on various topics.

i only focus on the issue they ask about, stripped of all areas such as what if he, what if she, what will they feel and such. in return i ask coleagues questions of social etiquette when faced with such issues.
