1. The earthquake should not have been a surprise, S&P predicted default would shake the country!
2. After the earthquake yesterday Obama and the DNC discovered three new faults: 1. Bush’s fault, 2. Tea party’s fault and, 3. Not my fault.
3. The rumbling felt on the Eastern Seaboard was confirmed as an entire Mountain of Debt which came crashing down in Washington.
4. Man that wasn’t an earthquake, Obama just dropped his wallet.
5. I see that S&P has downgraded the earthquake a notch to 5.7.
6. When I prayed for a shakeup in Washington I guess that I should have worded it differently.
7. The earthquake is the agitation cycle of God’s washing machine. Hurricane Irene is the spin cycle.
8. That wasn’t an Earthquake in D.C., it was Obama’s approval rating falling.
9. It wasn’t a quake, it was a $14.6 Trillion check bouncing.
10. It wasn’t a quake, it was the founding fathers rolling over in their graves!

Others:

-Sarah Palin has apparently succeeded in shaking things up in Washington.

-The earthquake was caused by the founding fathers turning over in their graves!

-It wasn't an earthquake, it was a stampede of illegal aliens entering the country!

-That wasn't an earthquake in D.C., that was just the rest of the country shifting to the right!

Is this supposed to be funny?

I find it about as funny as toothache.

How old are you?

Twelve?

This thread is just like the Washington DC earthquake. Unexpected, slightly jarring, and not funny.

I am in New Jersey. All day long I keep on hearing --- Didya feelit, Didya feelit -- without end.

Yeah. I felt it.

Yeah, political jokes tend to be flat, monotone 'laugh a little on the inside' type things. I still remember Mike Medved having an hour back in 2008 for callers to dial in with homemade jokes about the upcoming faceoff between Obama and Clinton for nomination - it was downright painful.

I remember someone writing a joke about last year's earthquake in Ontario, Canada on a CNN blog. He wrote down,

"Do you know why the earthquake happened in Ontario, Canada? Because the people of Quebec, Canada are trying to separate their province from the Canadian mainland!"

I made a comment once about Quebec'ian separatism to a girl who I didn't know was from Quebec. It was a rough night after that.

Making tasteless and wholly inappropriate political "jokes" at the misfortunes of others ... how infantile.

Do you have an ounce of sensitivity in you???

I do, It's just the east coast's reaction to a 5.8 earthquake is entertaining.

Yeah uh, the anglos of Canada like to joke / bash Quebec about our intention to seperate. Whereas some of us just couldn't care less. =/ (and are franco-canadians too)

But yeah, unless you're well-informed, topic to be avoided.

Last I heard, there were no fatalities from the Earthquake and only minor damage, so I don't see the problem in some humor.

One thing is that some people on the East Coast laugh when we Californians forget how to drive when it rains, or freak out about a little bit of snow. Then again, we're so used to earthquakes that we sometimes find them entertaining.

Here's a couple of comments from other Californians:

"5.9? We eat those for breakfast."

"We call that Tuesday here"
