should hard drugs be legal? should there be some restrictions or none? should people be allowed to give them to children?

Yes they should be legal, no you shouldn't be allowed to give them to your children

it shouldn't be any different than alcohol

Morphine derivatives are routinely used in hospitals.

1. Morphine Derivatives ARE "hard drugs"

2. They are used -legally- in hospital on a daily basis.

Does that answer your question?

Legalize, educate, tax and control. Take the easy money away from the underworld.

I don't know. There should probably be some mild barrier involved. Maybe a high tax like on liquor or cigarettes.

I.e. antidepressants can take a month to work (or years, if the first, second, third, etc. antidepressant drug doesn't work) -- and all that waiting while miserable can be very, very frustrating. OTOH, opiates + amphetamine cures depression right away. I know I would've been tempted to try something like that when the 5th-6th AD drug I was prescribed failed. (I did eventually find an AD that I can tolerate and that works.)

I don't think a drug high from narcotics and stimulants is the same thing as a lasting improvement of mood.

Exactly the problem, yes, but if someone is in a lot of pain they may grasp at 1 day's or 1 hour's worth of relief by whatever method they have available.

Hey, I thought I was the only one that knew about that trick, though in my experience the magic formula is a T3 with codeine plus 1mg of Alprazolam; good for about 4 hours of normalcy, though the aftereffects are not pleasant. Figured it out since I get the T3s for migraines and was trying to reduce the hyperactive side effects that opiates give me.

For once i agree with jacoby on something.

Sell it behind the counter at pharmacies, or in a pharmacy-like regulated store. Let all the major drug companies get into the business.

At least it would lower the crime rate.

Or maybe not. Merck would use cop math to decide what price they are going to triple because of the high quality of their product, and then the feds would look the other way when they all engage in pricefixing.

maybe having them and trading them should be legal but it should be illegal to produce large amounts.

Nonsense.

Getting rid of superlabs is how we end up with people cooking meth at home. Around kids. Without proper safety protocols.

I'm ok with coke but meth and heroin are really f****d up drugs so I'm not really sure. Before anyone even compares them to alcohol, BS. Alcohol hasn't ravaged neighbourhoods or had people killing families for a fix like meth and heroin have. Possession should definitely be decriminalized big time though. Maybe a dent can be put into the supply side of things if law enforcement only focused on cracking down on meth and heroin and if our borders were more secure. I don't know I haven't thought all the logistical s**t out yet.
