Is anyone else involved musically at their high school/college/university?

I'm the Publicity person for my university choir, which is a funny position for someone on the spectrum, but mostly I'm involved in designing the posters for our concert and maintaining the website/facebook/twitter. I don't actually have to do social interaction as part of the job. Though I do feel more like I should participate in the social events since I'm on the executive.

I am also auditioning to be in the university Show Choir, which is just starting up this year. I have a callback tonight.

I have sound sensitivity issues sometimes, but am not usually bothered when I'm singing.

I'm in my school's theatre group, and we're going to incorporate many musical elements into our repertoire-
we're working on an original play where I get to play an aging former theatre actress at a Thanksgiving dinner who becomes more musical the more alcohol she gets in her. :D There are all sorts of other brilliant characters, too. I'm pumped.

Another actor on the spectrum! :D

That play sounds cool. I auditioned for my university plays this year, but alas, I currently appear to be about 16 years old due to hormone therapy for being transgender. I didn't get a part.

Do you find your autism affects your acting at all? I have a problem with gestures and body language, so when I try to act, I sometimes seem rigid and stiff.

I was in an acting classes in high school and performed for the students. I'd definitely say my lack of emoting made the king I was playing seem less animated and regal.

I'm pretty animated, to the point of being made fun of when I get excited.
