I just watched the movie Temple Grandin last Friday night and I have been crying ever since.
I took a couple of the on-line AS test and have been researching the syptoms of AS. Everything I have learned explains so much about my dissaffected childhood and adult life. I'm 62 years old and devastated to learn that I have been peeking through cracks of the invisible walls of my own prison for my whole life. I am humbled beyond words.
I am glad to find this site.
I am still crying.
I will study grace & compassioin.
Wish me luck...

Hello, Joe! I'm sorry to hear about that. That must be pretty hard. You have found the right haven here on Wrong Planet. You'll find lots of people here like you and me, both young -at-years and young-at-heart. Welcome to Wrong Planet. Enjoy your stay, and good luck! :)

Welcome. I made it over the line a few years earlier than you - I was fifty-two when I realised - but there was a long period of not trusting very much at all that came in the wake of diagnosis.

Hello everyone. I am new here. A family member told me about this forum and I decided to check it out. Living with autism and Asperger's can be extremely difficult for me, but I try the best I can. I am just your average girl really. My biggest obsession and interest is figure skating, and I am currently taking lessons. Hopefully one day, one of my dreams is to go to the Special Olympics for skating, so who knows? I am also an animal lover. Looking forward to maybe making some new friends on here. :o

Hi Skatergirl,
I am the mom of a boy on the spectrum, and while it hurts to see his struggles I'm delighted with the successes. Ice skating is a great thing, it builds strength, stamina and confidence (something we can all use) so I wish you great success in this pursuit!

Thank you very much! I appreciate the encouragement! Everyone else around me makes me feel the same way! :)
