I just had an e-mail from the Halifax saying that my account was gonna close down because of unsucessful logins and I had to sort it out. So I started typing in my details and while doing so I suddenly thought wait this might be one of those scams so I showed it to my Dad and he told me that it was and then I thought to myself how dumb was I for nearly doing this. I should have realised this when the e-mail said unsucessful logins and I remember there were none. This could have been the worst thing to have happened to me and I am so relieved that I figured it out in time, but I should have figured it out in the beginning. I'm not a very bright person and I fell kinda stupid.

never feel stupid about what happened-they make the emails look so real it has gotten many people and people who are more savvy about those things than you or I.

Well at least you'll know not to fall for the same thing again next time. If you don't remember any unsuccessful logins, check that the website is encrypted with 'https' on the sign in page.

you need to do more than just check the https connection. you need to ensure its the same cert as last time.

there are a few firefox plugins that help you do that.
