I want to see how fast we can do this at one word per person (and also curious as to how many of you out there know your phonetic alphabet... :wink: )

I have to talk on the phone a lot at work, so I end up using the phonetic alphabet all the time. I use it the same way NASA developed it, with slight variations. Most people, as a result, understand me much better, especially over the phone. This is especially handy when giving out a serial number on the back of a device.

I did 4 years in Uncle Sams Machinegun Club. I had to learn the phonetic alphabet too. :?

I love the phonetic alphabet. Spell out any word and you get poetry.

I suspect this may change depending on whhat part of the world you are from and perhaps what films and tv you watch.

Perhaps in local usage, but I was actually referring to the official international radiotelephony (or NATO, as it's commonly known...) spelling alphabet... 8)

The UK's phonetic alphabet is definitely different from the US one.

Naturally, ours is better. :D

I know the phonetic alphabet off by heart. That's because the police in the UK use it as their radio code.
