I hate the jokes surrounding my height. Everywhere I go people make comments, lear, shout out insults, want their photo taken next to me and even men who are "tall" but not taller then me try to avoid standing next to me.

I go on other web sites and forums and people openly express love over short women and make comments how they find women taller then 5'6" to 5'8" (these seem to be the magic numbers for some reason) to be less attractive, more masculine and open to jokes. Then when someone does talk about being attracted to a tall woman it is someone around 5'9" to 5'10". I am over half a foot taller again. How is this meant to make me feel. I am a freak.

Not to mention that I will go on say a dating site like Ok cupid. And There is a whole selection of under 40 people in the whole country taller then me on the site. 6 in my local area. I will walk into mens stores and the clothes are all too short.

Yesterday I had another tall woman openly make fun of me to my face because I was taller then her 6'2" height and she had never met anyone taller that was a woman.

I try to make jokes about it like "dont worry, i won't drag you away for snu snu" ect but it really hurts my feelings. Even my boyfriend said it was strange for months dating someone my height because he is only a few cms taller then me. He is used to it now but I am so self concious about it.

I try to stay slim because when I put on weight I seem huge and only am taller then 95% of men but weigh more then them too.

I don't even get why height is something people would make fun of you for.

One of my brothers is fairly short (5' 7" or 5" 6" I think). He's been putting up with people mocking him his hole life. Occasional he snaps, I can remember on story about some one throwing pudding on him (when he was in school), he body slammed this kid (who was operantly nearly twice his size) and broke his wrist. Not shore where I was going with this...

There's a reason why all the models are tall. :D

If those 5'8" girls traveled back 300 years in time they would have been "freaks" as well. We're getting taller due to better nutrition, you're just winning the race.

This must be absolutely horrible.

I have a lot more sympathy for you than people who simply can't lose weight. Minority groups always get a hell of a time.

I don't know if it will help, it probably won't, but think of all the drop dead gorgeous supermodels. It's a tall womens world, no short women has a sh*t show in hell of breaking that scene.

Petite women have it very easy in terms of height, very easy, and I often find myself being extremely jealous of them.

Maria Sharapova is 6 foot 2 (not quite as tall)

I was looking up heights and found this comment from a guy:

Love these women! Tall women are just awesome!

Short guy here. My height is around the height of an average woman. It sucks.

Short guys are able to blend in with the crowd.
Tall people aren't. Men get it too, but are fortunate because it's more "socially acceptable" for men to be tall.

I don't think Solvejg is talking about relationship problems due to height, but more treatment from society. (correct me if I'm wrong).

I wasn't talking about relationship problems specifically. It's generally true that not being of "average" height is 'unfortunate' due to societal expectations and stereotypes. Though I can imagine that being tall can make one stand out more...

Yes, I agree. Really short guys face the same problem. As in, shorter than 5 foot 3.

I'm sorry to hear about how people are treating you, and even more puzzled by it.

I would think that tall girls would have long legs, and I can't imagine that as anything other than attractive. I can't really explain short jokes either, now that I think about it.

You are right.

Most people have no idea what it is like. It is a rare day when I don't have comments shouted from cars or random strangers come and want their photo taken next to me like I am a landmark.

People talk about how models are tall. Yes but it is more common for a 5'4" model then one who is on 6'4". Most models are actually only around the 5'10" mark. While this is still tall, it is a whole other kettle of fish to be 6 inches taller again. I used to model when I was younger and at the 6 foot mark. I am way too tall for that now.

My height is better compared with female volleyball and basketball players because some of them are as tall. I have had interest expressed by scouts in the past, not so much now I am old.

[Thought]
Have you considered joining a tall people's club?
