Wow, I bet bribing wouldn't have been necessary!
I currently am a teaching assistant for a class (not saying which, hehe) and am directly responsible for the grades of the undergraduate students in my class. Interacting with them, I can tell you that Yale undergraduates are no different from any other undergrads... meaning that there are really bright students, and there are other students that just make you want to go, "how the hell did you get accepted here?" And with the grading scheme for this particular class, it's almost impossible to get a grade lower than a B-. Failing out of school requires an average of lower than a C.
Some people like to make a big deal out of the Ivy League schools, but to me it's just like everywhere else.
Do you think standards have dropped?
Back in my day ... when I did my undergraduate degree, our professors said that if you couldn't write a good quality essay, they didn't believe you should get a degree from a University. When I went back a few years later as a tutor, this attitude had dissappeared.
