How does a Tarantella sound, anyway? I've only heard it mentioned in a Tom Waits tune, "Tango Til They're Sore".

It eats pinhead crickets and wingless fruit flies, but the local Pets Unlimited didn't have any so we've given it a mealworm hoping it would take it...

It eats maggots, too, but that's a little gross...

HAHAHA... so do mine. Not this kind of spider, though...

Its species is Avicularia avicularia - the Pink toed tarantula.. it originates from South Amerca (Brazil to Costa Rica) and is relatively unagressive (I'm REALLY hoping I will be able to handle it... I WANT a monster like that in my hand...). Its venom is also relatively weak...

Also, I forgot to mention: it will eat small frogs and pinkie mice, but it's not good to feed them vertebrates too often as our bones are too high in calcium for it.

I can't WAIT to see it go through its first molt!! Apparently it will become more and more inactive, not moving or eating. It will spin a wispy, flat web, then flip over on its back on said web and proceed to shed its exoskeleton. Once that's done, it's important to leave it alone and not feed it for about a week as its new, soft exoskeleton has to harden. This is gonna be awesome!

I haven't really thought about it... but I'll probably be videotaping it, and if I do that, then I'll probably be editing it, and if I do that, then chances are I'd stick it up on YouTube to impress / gross out my friends / family...

Do you want to see it molting on YouTube? :D
